SS is another Linux utility that can be used to dump socket statistics. Written by Alexey Kuznetsov it allows showing information similar to netstat. According to man ss it can display more TCP information than other tools. Here it an example of it’s usage:

Sockets summary statistics:
viper@viper-laptop:~$ ss -s
Total: 539 (kernel 566)
TCP: 13 (estab 5, closed 0, orphaned 0, synrecv 0, timewait 0/0), ports 18
This utility is available by default in many Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Debian or Fedora.
