If you install the .deb file form Google’s site, it’ll add a line to your sources.list that keeps it updated. You don’t have to reinstall. I’m not sure where everyone thinks this info came from, but I’ve been using Chrome since last fall htat way. It continually updates through the Update Manager.

From their installer (just below the Eula and the install button:
“Note: Installing Google Chrome will add the Google repository so your system will automatically keep Google Chrome up to date. If you don’t want Google’s repository, do “sudo touch /etc/default/google-chrome” before installing the package.”
